The Sagae River that quietly runs right in front of Tamaki is the most crystal clear river in Yamagata Prefecture. The 59-kilometer long, class A river is a part of the Mogami River system and is fed by rich water sources from Mt. Asahi and Mt. Gassan. Dining in a room that affords a view of the clear running waters of the Sagae River is truly the ultimate experience. Get away from the day-to-day commotion and enjoy leisurely moments at Tamaki.

As you get out of your car, you will be greeted by a nostalgic scene that stirs the Japanese spirit.

On the left is a stone gate that is the main entrance to the main building. Follow the stone path that guides you further inside to find the main building.

Garden/Gyokurantei (central gate)
Visible to the right of the parking area is the central gate, another component that conjures up days of old. Pass through the gate and you will find the garden and Gyokurantei described below. The natural balance between the central gate and surrounding trees is a must-see.

Past the central gate is a quiet expanse of green and the tea house named Gyokurantei. The inner court that blends with nature changes throughout the seasons. You can take in the landscape in every season at Tamaki while listening to the babbling of the Sagae River.

Leave the path to the central gate and garden and you will find Gyokurantei, a tea house that overlooks the Sagae River. The photo is of Gyokurantei in autumn when the leaves have begun changing color. The Sagae River can be seen up close from Gyokurantei, and there is a path leading to the main building that guests are free to stroll along.

Tamaki is proud of the Sagae River landscape. On the right side of the photo is the red Gyokuendo, on the left is the terrace of the main building. The view in fall and early spring is especially popular with guests, and we welcome many groups then. You can appreciate the view not only during the day, but also at night when it is illuminated.

While lending an ear to the quietly murmuring river, guests can enjoy Tamaki dishes prepared with an abundance of natural local ingredients. Tables and chairs are also available for the rooms. Ask about them when making a reservation.

This hall is used for events such as weddings and Buddhist memorial services held in a tranquil atmosphere surrounded by clear running waters and the garden. It can accommodate approximately 150 guests, so please tell us the number of guests and event content when making a reservation in advance. Tamaki is happy to provide services that include catering and venue preparation.

A place to experience the Sagae River close at hand
The terrace overlooking the Sagae River can be accessed from the large hall and hallway. The view is especially breathtaking in spring and fall, and many guests come to enjoy the different appearances of the river throughout the four seasons. At night, the scenery is illuminated, so you can enjoy a different view from daytime.
